Ian Stuart Bridal
A flamboyant, artistic child, Ian gravitated towards theatre and the arts at an early age, which eventually led him to pursue fashion at college with ambitions of becoming a costume designer.
During his studies it was by chance that his interests diverted to bridal. Winning numerous student awards for his bridal work gave him a realisation that he had a natural flair for designing wearable theatrical gowns that could be worn by real women.
In 2002, he launched Ian Stuart-Bride, where he could finally concentrate on creating collections which truly reflected his passion for innovative bridal design.
Early training at one of London’s finest couture houses, Bellville Sassoon, gave Ian expert couturier knowledge of cut, proportion, balance and construction of high-end evening wear.
This invaluable experience, combined with over a decade designing collections for leading bridal manufacturers in NYC, gave Ian the perfect foundations on which to create his own label.

Ian’s instant popularity with the more quirky modern bride saw him inundated with commissions from their own stylish mothers, wanting his signature handwriting applying to an outfit for them too.
In 2007, the label evolved to include Ian Stuart-London, a special occasion wear collection for women who wanted to stand out and be noticed. An immediate success, it seemed that women were craving for wedding fashion that wasn’t the ‘frumpy uniform’.
Inspired by the women wearing his designs, he started dreaming of an Ian Stuart flagship store that housed exclusive collections of his cutting edge bridal and occasion wear, and where he could offer a personal service for women wanting something utterly unique.
The Blewcoat was found, renovated and reborn as one of the most impressive boutiques in London.
Ever striving to be an ambassador for British bridal and occasion wear design, Ian hopes that the Blewcoat will become a luxury shopping landmark that will attract adventurously stylish women from around the world.
