Real Wedding in Malta

Sian and Justin planned their wedding abroad in Malta with the help of Sarah Young, Malta’s top wedding planner.

See the pictures below and read all about it.

We met in 2005 at a mutual friend’s 18th birthday. Our first date was to the cinema where I was so comfortable in Justin’s company I fell asleep on his shoulder and still do to this day during every film we watch.
Justin proposed on a trip to Perth, Australia in 2012 to visit Justin’s family. He carried the ring around in his rucksack for three weeks waiting for the perfect spot. In the end he waited until 4.30am on our last day to drive to Point Walter on the Swan River to propose at sunrise. We celebrated over pancakes and champagne for breakfast.

I had always wanted to get married abroad, so we set to searching various destinations in Europe as we wanted somewhere accessible for our family and friends. We looked at and got quotes from various countries and wedding planners from places such as Italy and Greece but nowhere felt quite right. My friend Jenna suggested we look at Malta as I had done a university placement there and knew the country well. From the moment we contacted Sarah it all clicked into place and it was full steam ahead from there. We headed over for a four day trip with my parents where Sarah drove us to all the venues we were interested in.
We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and informal and that’s exactly what we got! If we were going to marry abroad we wanted it to be outside with a sea view. We were never keen for the day to be the big show they can often become. Sarah and her team are so professional and made sure our day was perfect so we could relax with our guests. They guided us through every step of the way, it couldn’t have been easier or more perfect for us. Sarah would email us choices for everything and we would simply pick what we wanted and she would action it. We had many personal touches at our wedding which Sarah helped us to arrange.

Malta was our perfect destination. We married on the Monday at Sarah’s suggestion which meant the wedding lasted all weekend with relaxed drinks in the villa on the Friday, a big night out on the Saturday and a meal with all our guests in a local restaurant the night before. We loved that most of our guests came away with new friends from the wedding.

I had my only sister Megan as my bridesmaid, despite the eight year age gap we have always been more like best friends. We found Megan’s dress by chance whilst out Christmas shopping! We also had my two young cousins William (5) and Maisie (2) as pageboy and flowergirl who did a great job and almost stole the show.

Justin’s best man was his best friend from university Rob. Rob and his wife Nat not only came over with their young son Cameron but with both sets of parents to be on hand to look after him so they could fully partake in all the wedding events.
I found my dress in a local shop, the moment I tried it on it was perfect. I had always wanted a lace dress, I loved the detail of the open back and the satin twist around the waist.

The day itself was perfect from start to finish. The ceremony started at 5pm which was a blessing in the 34 degree heat! We both started our days with our closest friends and family. Justin went for a fry up with the Dads and men, I with six of my closest friends, sister and mum had our nails done over a gossip in my hotel suite – suitably arranged by Sarah.
Sarah and her team ensured everything ran to clockwork and was exactly as we wished for. We were able to enjoy every second of our day knowing everything would run smoothly.
All our guests commented on the venue and its spectacular views. The food was also raved about. The venue, staff and the DJ were brilliant and ensured we could party the night away! The highlight was getting every member of the wedding up on the dance floor for ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘Oops up side you head’ and ‘Never Forget’!

We honeymooned straight after the wedding on the beautiful neighbouring island of Sicily.

Our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and more. Sarah and her team are amazing. I don’t know how I could have done it without them. She is there for all the silly questions and last minute emails without any hesitation. We were completely blown away with the results. She is very professional, very customer focused, went the extra mile in all aspects and showed initiative. Could not have wished to find a better planner, organiser and advisor. Thank you Sarah!
We also celebrated with a big party back home on our return from our honeymoon.
