Rice and Roses, which is usually on top of any bride-to-be’s list, was established back in 2002 to fill a void in the bridal marketplace in Ireland and it has now gone from strength to strength.

Rice and Roses began their humble beginnings in a small unit at the Woollen Mills in Douglas, Cork and from there grew the business and expanded to their now luxurious 3,500 square foot premises at Frankfield Business Park. Barbara Rooney the proprietor says that through hard work the store has earned a great reputation and they have found that over the years they have the same families returning with sisters, cousins and friends now looking for that special dress.

Rice ‘n Roses success can also be attributed to the service given to the bride. “Our service does not end with the dress”. Lorna explained how they try to create an overall image for the bride. The highly trained staff members discuss many aspects of the wedding including accessories, hairstyles, and bridesmaids and now also offer a jewellery and headwear service where you can pick and choose your beading.

The store stocks a massive array of fabulous gowns in their showroom. They have invested a lot to give brides the choice that they deserve. “We are constantly getting deliveries of new stock and we work very close with our designers to ensure that our styles are both up to the minute but yet classical”. The stores new Rice ‘n Roses Couture label is quickly taking off and earning praise from their brides for it’s luxurious fabrics, exquisite detail and classic lines resembling those worn by Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. “I just think the 50’s was such an elegant era” Barbara says.
“Brides deserve to look a million dollars on their big day and we really want our brides to attract attention but yet be elegant at the same time”.

Barbara admits that business is hard and demanding so she has to work extra hard to balance her business and family time. Every day is a challenge but she is excited about the year that lies ahead. Rice ‘n Roses are strictly by appointment 021-4965527. www.ricenroses.ie
