Fiona and Andrew’s Real Wedding
Fiona and Andrew were married in Adare, with Fiona wearing a Beautiful Wedding Gown from Dublin Bridal House, Rathfarnham
We met over nine years ago on a J1 in Huntington Beach, California. We instantly clicked and have been inseparable ever since.
We went to Ballymascanlon House for a break just before Christmas 2015. When we arrived to the hotel, there was champagne and the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. I didn’t know what was going on until Andrew got down on one knee and proposed. He caught me completely by surprise.
We really wanted all our family and friends to be at our wedding. For me, an important part of the wedding was to go from my childhood home in Limerick and for my Dad to walk me up the aisle. One month after we were engaged, we booked the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare. I fell in love with it straight away. For our ceremony, we booked the picturesque Holy Trinity Abbey Church in Adare.
From the moment I arrived, Sharon from Dublin Bridal House was a dream to deal with
My bridesmaids were three of my closest friends, Carol, Emma, Diane and my niece, Jayne. Each are very special to me and I was so happy they could be part of such a special day. Our flowergirls, Ella (my niece) and Eva (Andrew’s cousin) were beautiful, and did such a wonderful job. Our pageboy was my gorgeous nephew Alex.
My wonderful mother bought my dress for me and the experience we had together searching for the perfect dress is one I will cherish forever. I bought my dress in Dublin Bridal House in Rathfarnham, Dublin. From the moment I arrived, Sharon was a dream to deal with. She has a beautiful selection of dresses with a great variety of styles to choose from. Sharon was a huge help and picked some styles she thought I would like. One of these was an elegant lace dress by Morilee. With Sharon’s attention to detail and her talent for styling, she accessorised the dress with a beautiful pearl belt. I instantly fell in love with it, my mam too and no dress could beat it.
Andrew had his three best friends Joe, Colin and Gary as his three groomsmen. He’s an only child so the three lads are like brothers to him. They have been close friends since primary school.
Our wedding day was perfect. We had the most beautiful day with blue skies and sunshine. We laughed so much all morning with Val O’Dea (hairstylist) and Mandy O’Loughlin (make-up), who were both fantastic. My dad cooked us a huge breakfast and my Mam provided the prosecco.
Our photographer, Brendan Coleman, was fantastic, working alongside his wife, taking a huge selection of great photos. PVP Digital did a wonderful job with our video; the quality of the video was fantastic and Michael was great to work with.
We had the most beautiful day with blue skies and sunshine.
We were lucky to have Fr. Frank Herron, a friend of Andrew’s Mam, Angela, marry us. Frank has such a relaxed manner and made the day extra special for us with plenty of laughs.
Our singer, Sinead NiGabhann was spectacular. Her voice is incredible and every song was beautiful. She was happy to play every song we requested, most of which weren’t even part of her repertoire but she learned especially for the wedding.
As we had a sunny day, the Woodlands moved our reception outside so everyone could enjoy some bubbly in the sun. From the minute we booked our wedding with the Woodlands, they could not do enough for us. It is a family run hotel and every member of the family and staff go above and beyond to ensure you have the perfect day. We received so many compliments from our guests. Elaina, our wedding co-ordinator was fantastic and we had no worries knowing she was looking after our wedding, making sure we had the perfect day.
Our cake was made by our friend Yvonne Morrissey Kelly who did a fantastic job. Her attention to detail is second to none. Not only did it look great but tasted great and all of our guests agreed!
A very special part of the wedding for us was to have Andrew’s Dad John drive us in his blue Ford Escort, the same car he drove Andrew home from the hospital after he was born. John drove Andrew and his groomsmen to the church that morning and then they collected myself and my Dad. That was a lovely moment to spend with my Dad and John in such a special car which was beautifully decorated by Andrew’s Stepmam Fiona.
Our honeymoon was 18 nights of pure bliss, spending our time in Portugal and Spain. After the craziness of the wedding, it was lovely to spend quality time together.
Nothing can prepare you for just how quickly the day goes. With so much going on, it’s hard to take it all in and so important to enjoy every minute of it, which we did. We were grateful to share the day with everyone we love and have so many great memories.
