Catherine & Peter were married in The Radisson Blu Farnham Estate Golf and Spa Resort
Peter and I met in December 2009 through a mutual friend who introduced us after we spotted each other on a night out in Armagh City. Peter moved to London shortly afterwards for work and I followed him a year later.
His surprise wedding proposal came on Christmas Eve 2012 – it was a complete shock. It took place on the balcony of the restaurant where we had our first date. The setting was beautiful – in the middle of the countryside and only the two of us there – it was perfect and even more special that he had asked my dad’s permission beforehand.
As we live in London, we wanted to give ourselves time to organise everything, so we set our date for September 5, 2014 and began the preparations straight away. We booked the beautiful St Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh and next stop was a suitable venue. After viewing many venues we were overwhelmed by the Radisson Blu Farnham Estate in County Cavan. We felt there was a natural air of romance and beauty at Farnham Estate and the fact that we were able to avail of the beautiful garden and grounds for our photography was a huge plus.
I had an idea of the type of dress that I wanted and found it in Paradise Collections in Loughgall. Just to make sure it was the right dress I scoured many bridal shops in London but none compared to the Maggie Sottero dress in Paradise Collections and I knew it was the one. I accessorised my dress with a feathered headpiece and jewellery handmade by the extremely talented Helen Fitzpatrick and I found my stunning shoes in Kate Spade New York.

I always knew that I wanted something different for my bridesmaids so I picked the same one shoulder JLM Couture dress from LA Bridal House, Belfast in aubergine and pale pink. Helen Fitzpatrick created fascinators and jewellery to match and I found their shoes in Kurt Geiger. My niece Olivia was our flowergirl. I always loved the Nicki MacFarlane flowergirl dresses and I found the perfect one for Olivia in Petticoat Lane Bridal in Hillsborough.
Our wedding had hints of 1920s style running through it, which is why Peter and his boys including our very handsome pageboy Harry chose suits that emulated that period. To further match the bridesmaids, I had ties and pocket squares handmade in pale pink and aubergine.
Our wedding day was so special for both of us. It was very emotional travelling to the Cathedral in a horse and carriage with my dad. Coming from a car fanatic family it was only right that my dad should organise the transport for the day of the wedding and he did a fantastic job as we also arrived at the Radisson Blu Farnham Estate in pure style that suited the beautiful building and the wonderful surroundings at the Radisson Blu Farnham Estate.

After travelling back and forth from London I was so happy walking down the aisle to Peter and witnessing how everything had come together, from the outstanding floral arrangements and bouquets by Orchid Bridal Portadown to the sound of Arco string quartet playing hymns and songs that meant so much to us both.
The day was made all the more special by the fact that our fantastic family and friends, many of whom had travelled great distances, were there to celebrate with us.
There were a couple of hiccups on the day of the wedding but we soon forgot about them and enjoyed every second – the day went by so quickly and it was lovely to see everyone having a good time and filling the dance floor.
We partied the rest of the weekend and then traveled to the Maldives on honeymoon. It was the perfect place to relax and spend our first holiday as husband and wife.
